In the vast expanse of eternity, Richard shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Richard farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He was predeceased by: his father Gordon Archie Oattes; and his sister Pauline Elizabeth Oattes-Crozier. He is survived by: his close friend Sandy Giffin; his mother Lena Oattes; his brothers, Roddy Oattes and Bruce Oattes; and his siblings-in-law, Janet Oattes and Barry Crozier. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends.
