He was predeceased by: his wife Charlotte Welsand (Zimmerman); his siblings, Gerhard Welsand, Helmut Welsand, Irene Alt (John) and Erica Welsand; and his parents, Rudolph Welsand and Olga Welsand (Barth).
He is survived by: his daughters, Caroline Welsand (Sean) and Barb Abell (Kevin); his grandchildren, Rebecca Whipple (James), Matthew Abell (Vanessa), Nathaniel Abell (Mikayla) and Jeremy Abell; his sister Anita Banyard (Robert); and his sisters-in-law, Karola Welsand and Alice Welsand. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
