He was predeceased by: his parents, Dannie Burchell and Excelda Burchell; his brother Ernie Burchell; and his grandson Robert Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Sherry Cole (Bruce White), Michele Burchell, Dan Burchell (Krystol) and Kim Brown (Robert); his great grandchildren, Faith, Abby, Caitlyn, Kathleen, Christopher, Danielle, Robert, Jessica, Kirsten, Jennifer, Brad and Daniel; and his sisters, Nellie LaBlanc (Cecil), Sheila McIntyre (Michael), Penny Currie (Joey) and McKinnon.
