Dominic Benson Pozzobon Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dominic Benson Pozzobon of Cambridge, Ontario on Sunday January 19th at the young age of 53.
Dominic, better known as Nico or Nick was a pillar of support to those around him. A selfless man of integrity who would open his door to anyone. Dominic showed his love for others through acts of service, always being the first one to lend a helping hand. His favourite pastimes included spontaneous road trips, watching planes at the local airport, grabbing a coffee or fishing with friends, watching the hockey game, and cooking up a storm! Loyal employee of IDEX Corporation for almost two decades. Dominic took pride in every machine built and adored his colleagues who quickly became a second family to him. He was overjoyed to kiss the cod and take a shot of Newfoundland “Screech” to receive his certificate to become a proud Newfoundlander in 2023! A man of great humour and a heart of gold, his spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He left us too soon.
Loving partner to Marion Holloway of Stratford. Devoted father to Nathaniel Pozzobon (Brenna) of Cambridge and Rhea Holloway (Chad) of Waterloo. Dominic was a father figure to many. Adored Papa to Caleb, Jacob and Elizabeth. Dominic is survived by his siblings: Marie Fleet (Len) of Cambridge, Rosemary Ellison (Lyle) of Kitchener, Lynn Schlueter (Mark) of Cambridge, Louis Pozzobon of Cambridge and Robert Pozzobon of Kitchener. A cherished uncle, great uncle and great-great uncle to many. Dominic will be missed also by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dominic is predeceased by his parents Mary and Flavio Pozzobon of Cambridge, brother John Pozzobon of Cambridge, niece Alicia Pozzobon of Cambridge, best friend Kenneth McCue of Cambridge, and the family dog, Kelso.
He will be greatly missed by many friends and will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be publicly announced at a later date. Dominic wanted his celebration of life to be a party to remember and the family intends to do just that!
If desired, family and friends are welcomed to make a charitable contribution in Dominic’s name to the SickKids Foundation.
