He was predeceased by: his former wife Major Sara Wheeler; his parents, Allan Wheeler and Lillian Wheeler; his sisters, Edna Drinkwater (Bob) and Renee Haney (Clive Harris); and his nephew Billy Drinkwater.

He is survived by: his spouse Alexis Bennett-Wheeler of Cambridge; his children, Carrie Anderson (John) of Brantford and Robbin Deck (Reginald) of Peterborough; his grandchildren, Brandon (Mackenzie), Campbell, Mackenzie, Adam and Danica; his great grandchild Micah; and his sisters, Dorothy Maidment, Ewart Wheeler (Doreen), Daphne Rees (Ned) and Lillian Hawkins (Jack).
