He was predeceased by: his siblings, Dieta Kilper and Botho Strenzke; and his brothers-in-law, Detlev and Manfred. He is survived by: his wife Helga; his daughters, Claudia Dault (Martin) and Martina Vandelannoote (Jeff); and his siblings, Siegfried Strenzke (Lydia), Ruth Grisebach, Erika Guenther and Hans Strenzke (Heidi Strenzke). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of Waterloo as expressions of sympathy.
