He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia; his parents, Patrick Whalen and Ellen Whalen; and his siblings, David, Raymond, Fred, Mary, Mildred, Margaret and Elizabeth.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Vieira and Paul Whalen (Judy); his great grandchildren, Jackson, Kai, Maya, Knox, Silas and Easton; his sister Ida Ezekiel; and his siblings-in-law, Gladys Whalen, Patricia Mercer and James Mercer (Catherine). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
