He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Paula; his children, Mark Derkachenko, Carol Derkachenko of Cambridge, Brant Derkachenko of Cambridge, Petra Rolston, Ron Rolston of Waterloo, Paul Derkachenko and Wanda Newell of Cambridge; his grandchildren, Shannon Derkachenko (Andrew Edwards) of Woodstock, Kyle Derkachenko of Regina, Rachel Rolston of Guelph, Adam Rolston of Waterloo, Nathan Rolston of Waterloo and Olivia Derkachenko of Cambridge; and his siblings, Anne Cameron (late Norman) of Cambridge, Olga Corbett and Stan Corbett of Bright.
