He was predeceased by: his wife Sheila; his daughter Fiona Groulx (Denis); his great grandchild Ian; and his parents, George Matthew and Christina Matthew.

He is survived by: his children, Judith Hamilton (Bob) and Lindsay Hunter (Bill); his grandchildren, Christina Faulds, David Hamilton, Ian Hamilton, Matthew Hunter, Rachel Hunter, Luke Hunter, Chris Groulx and Jake Groulx; and his sibling Sheila Matthew.
