He is survived by: his spouse Gertrud; his children, Christiane Lickley (Peter), Roland (Paula), Joe (Cindy), Frank (Vale), Gisela Michaelis and Renata Michaelis; his siblings, Liesel Hermanns, Anni Schneider, Friedel Schwidden and Wolfgang Michaelis; his siblings-in-law, Anni Mallwitz (Dieter), Elfriede Anders (Helmut) and Karl Grauer (Margret); and his friends, Helmut, Josie Muller and Else Adamenko. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Cambridge Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by his family.
