He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Witmer and Vinetta Witmer (Shantz); his sister Marjorie Shantz (Ralph); and his grandsons, Chad Bowman and Charles Alexander "Alex" Witmer (Jennifer).
He is survived by: his wife Anna Lois Martin; his siblings, Margaret Hoover (Merle), Dorothy Phillips (Doug), Ross Witmer (Rosario), Fred Witmer (Marian) and Glenn Witmer; his children, Cathy Bowman (Jim), Debra Townsend (James), Phil Witmer (Mandy), Gerald Witmer (Brenda) and Myriam Vandenbroucque (Edgard); his grandchildren, Kim Martin (Gary), Rachel Bowman-Abdi (Khadar), Annalea Townsend-Furgason (Kenny), Krista Townsend, David Witmer, Chris Witmer, Adam Witmer (Sara) and Sophie Witmer; and his great grandchildren, Simon, Avry, Aden, Elias and Joy Rim.
