He was predeceased by: his daughter Louise; his grandchildren, Sarah, Danielle, Joseph and Kelly; his parents, Tom Fitzgerald and Mary Fitzgerald; his brothers, Elmer Jordan (Rose) and Lorne Jordan; and his siblings-in-law, Madeline Thompson (Lloyd) and Clare Harrington (late Rosemary).
He is survived by: his wife Elinor Fitzgerald; his children, Brian (Katherine) of Edmonton, Terry (Christine) of Douro, Daryl (Mary Lou) of Douro, Cathy Condon (John) of Oakville and Patrick (Kathy) of Selwyn; his grandchildren, Regan (Tylor), Sean (Matt), Matt, Katie Bergeron (Guillaume), Jordan (Melissa), Patrick (Jenn), Leigh, Jacob Condon, Fleury, Forest, Fox and Kassandra; his great grandchildren, Madeleine, Owen Bergeron, Nathan, Luke Fitzgerald, Oliver and Edison Fitzgerald; and his siblings-in-law, Jack Harrington (Theresa), Marion O'Grady (late Jack) and Norma Guerin (late Jack).
Visitation was held on Monday, February 23rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Highland Park Funeral Centre (2510 Bensfort Rd, Peterborough, ON K9J 1C5). A prayer was held on Monday, February 23rd 2026 at 5:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, February 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Church (300 County Rd 8, Lakefield, ON K0L2H0). A burial was held on Tuesday, February 24th 2026 at the St. Joseph's Cemetery (300 County Rd 8, Lakefield, ON K0L2H0).
