It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alan Butler of Chatham, Ontario, who passed away on May 9, 2026, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Butler and Violet Butler; his parents-in-law, Robert and Marie Dye; his wife Geraldine "Geri" Butler; his children, Patti Anne Butler and Richard Butler; his siblings, Lloyd Butler (Kaye), Shirley Flook (Doug), Donald Butler (Doris), Doug Butler, Bill Butler and Bob Butler; Cathy Dye.
He is survived by: his children, Alan Butler, Sandy Gagnier (Randy), Robert Butler (Louise), Jennifer Gardiner (Bill) and Kevin Butler (Tina); his sisters-in-law, Eve Butler and Diane Flook; Brenda Morris (Peter), Jayne Dye (Victor), Nancy Dye (Glenda), Janet Schaver (Jeff) and Kelly Dye. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McKinlay Funeral Home - Chatham (459 St Clair St, Chatham, ON N7L3K6). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the same location.
Donations made in memory of Alan to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
