He was predeceased by: his wife Freida Haaksma; his parents, Floris Aukema and Tryntje Aukema; his siblings, Jan-Evert (Blijke Aukema), Beits (Hank Kroon), Jim (Roelie Aukema), Jan (Zwannie Aukema), Evert (Gail Aukema), Evelyn (Harry Riepma) and Wob (Joke Aukema); and his sister-in-law Ali Aukema.
He is survived by: his sons, Floyd Aukema (Judy), Ian Aukema (Mary) and John Aukema (Veronica); his grandchildren, Tracy (Kendall VanRooyen), Alicia (Aaron Pyle), Amanda (Adam Donaldson), Melissa Aukema, Christopher (Joanna Aukema), Jonathan Aukema, Laura Aukema, Jordan Aukema, Kathryn Aukema and Alex Aukema; and his great grandchildren, Liam, Owen, Avan, Nelia, Kaden, Nolan, Jayden, Landon, Emma-Rose and Flynn.
