He was predeceased by: his parent Fenno; his siblings, Ekke and Grace; and his grandson Nicolaas. He is survived by: his parent Grietje; his spouse Catharina "Ina"; his children, Cora Scott of Delaware, Carl Scott of Delaware, Nancy Scott of Delaware, David Scott of Delaware, Christine Scott of Delaware, Deborah Scott of Delaware and Stephen Scott of Delaware; his grandchildren, Christopher, Jarod, Hannah, Eric, Mitchell, Cassidy, Jacob and Katrina; his siblings, Truus Rosema, Hilko Rosema, Cees and Ity; and his siblings-in-law, Dorothy and Fritz Datema of Brampton.

Donations in memory of John to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Arthritis Society would be appreciated.
