With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Eric Johnston of Chatham, Ontario, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Eric left this world on January 25, 2026, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his significant other Sandra; his parents, Cecil Johnston and Florence Johnston; his brothers, Edwin (Elaine) and Lawrence Johnston; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Lusk and Diane Boughner.
He is survived by: his children, Anthony and Susan; his grandchildren, Lance, Samantha (Anthony), Dylan, Adora, Meadow and Ryker; his siblings-in-law, Germaine Johnston, Glenn Lusk, Bob Boughner and Edward Davies (Olwen); his sibling's children, Jane, E'will and Leah Makra; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Reese and Jake; and his pet Maisie.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 31st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the McKinlay Funeral Home (459 St Clair St, Chatham, ON N7L3K6). A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 1st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, April 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Morpeth Cemetery (12637 Talbot Trail, Morpeth, ON N0P1X0).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eric's memory may be made to CKHAF Save Our Sydenham (Wallaceburg Redevelopment Project) or a charity of your choice.
