She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorothy Nicholson and Frank Nicholson; her husband Harold O'Brien; her son-in-law Rob Rankin; and her siblings, Ed Nicholson and Dorothy Frolick.

She is survived by: her children, Linda O'Brien (David Glaser), Jerry O'Brien (Maria), Kevin O'Brien (Jan), Shawn O'Brien (Carol), Erin Rankin Nash (David Nash) and Michael O'Brien (Angela); and her sister Helen Glassco. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the May Court Club of Chatham, or the Hyperacute Stroke Clinic at University Hospital.

“One of my favorite memories is of Harold and Fran racing our larks at Erieau, The O>Briens had just bought the blue and white cottage right next door to the EYC clubhouse, Harold being Harold got the family a Lark sailboat, Bev and I were in B class as were Harold and Fran. I had been raised with an outboard had spent very little in a sailboat of any kind and I suspect that these 2 were "in the same boat" However we spent every Sunday on the bay, at race end the more successful of us”
