He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry DeBruyne and Emerance DeBruyne (Buys); his wife Dianne DeBruyne; his siblings, Willie DeBruyne (late Leta) and Alfred DeBruyne (late Madeline); and his siblings-in-law, Anne Benn (late Charles), Yvonne Yonkheym (late Pete), Rose Verschoore (late Joe) and Omer Vandevenne (Emma).

He is survived by: his children, Vicky DeBruyne (Shayne), Belinda Hakr (Mike), Kelly DeBruyne (Chris) and Nathan DeBruyne (Diane); his grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen), CJ, Brandon, Kaitlyn (Tyler), Nolan (Allison) and Megan (Grayson); his great grandchild Easton Frederick Hakr; his stepgrandchildren, Logan and Carter; his siblings, Yvonne Marcus (Ed) and Mauritz DeBruyne (late Rachel); and his pet Shelby. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Fred can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
