He was predeceased by: his parents, Albin Benninger and Rosina Benninger (Becker); and his brother Eugene Benninger (Theresa Benninger). He is survived by: his wife Heather Benninger (Hyatt); his children, Tracy Callaghan (Jim) of Chatham and Jason Benninger of Chatham; his stepchildren, Wade Brackenbury (Kandice) of Ajax, Darren Brackenbury of Tilbury and Nicole McCutcheon (Chris Debot) of Chatham; his grandchildren, Destiny Johnson (Justin Johnson), Justin Callaghan (Hanne Goetz), Cameron Callaghan, Brady Benninger, Quentin, Kaprice Brackenbury, Ty, Brooke McCutcheon, Chelsea and Conner Debot; and his great grandchild Jemma Johnson. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Gary to Chatham Outreach for Hunger would be appreciated.
