He was predeceased by: his parents, Morgan O'Brien and Esther O'Brien; his siblings, Teresa, Mary, Wilfred, Edward and Noreen; his children, Anne Marie and Patrick; and his granddaughter Anna Maria.
He is survived by: his wife Helen (Costello); and his children, Maureen Heath (Michael), Tom (Sheila), Colleen Griffioen (Henry) and Jim (Anita). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home (245 Wellington St W, Chatham, ON N7M1H7). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church (145 Victoria Ave, Chatham, ON N7L3A7).
In lieu of flowers the family would encourage that donations be made to a local charity in Gerry's name.
