He was predeceased by: his parents, Morgan O'Brien and Esther O'Brien; his siblings, Teresa, Mary, Wilfred, Edward and Noreen; his children, Anne Marie and Patrick; and his granddaughter Anna Maria.
He is survived by: his wife Helen (Costello); and his children, Maureen Heath (Michael), Tom (Sheila), Colleen Griffioen (Henry) and Jim (Anita). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would encourage that donations be made to a local charity in Gerry's name WebcastA webcast for the services of Gerald "Gerry" O'Brien was created.
