It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joao Gomes Antunes of Chatham, Ontario, who passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Joao may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his spouse Vitalina Da Costa; and his siblings, Manuel Antunes and Berlinda. He is survived by: his children, Antonio "Tony" Antunes, Manuel Antunes, Joseph Antunes, Maria Antunes (Claude McDonald) and Rosamaria Antunes (Rodney Walters); his grandchildren, Sebastian Antunes (Armind Ramos), Shane Antunes-Rossignal and Vitalina Antunes-Rossignal; and his brother Antonio Antunes (late Ermilinda).
