He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, James McLagan and Ruby McLagan; his wife Diane (Nee Murray); and his siblings, James "Mick" and Gale. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the McKinlay Funeral Home (459 St Clair St, Chatham, ON N7L3K6). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

Donations made in memory of John to the Canadian Cancer Society or a Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
