He was predeceased by: his parents, George Patterson and Edna Patterson (Currie); his brothers, George Patterson (late Beverly) and Ken Patterson (Olga); and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Hastings and Marilyn (late Earl Waites).

He is survived by: his wife Eilene Patterson (Hastings); his children, Janice Hodgetts (late Edward), Susan Patterson (Jim Grover) and Dennis Patterson (Lorie Wolf); his grandchildren, Travis Hodgetts (Silvana De Natale), Andrea Hodgetts (Peter Copping) and Jed Patterson; his great grandchildren, Cecilia, Cedro, Emma and Cassidy; his siblings, Estella Miller (late Robert), Doris Montgomery (Barry), Leila Loosemore (late Morley), Shirley Phillips (late Don), Gail Patterson, Jean St. Pierre (Maurice), Pat Patterson (Mike Potter) and Lynne Allen (Bob); his siblings-in-law, David and Laura Hastings; and his friend Bob Wheeler (Lorraine). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
