We announce the death of Margaret Broenink-Hasselaar (Chatham, Ontario), who passed away on September 10, 2026. Margaret will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Bernardus Dekker and Dirkje Dekker; her husbands, John Hasselaar and Walter Broenink; her children, Shirley Hasselaar and Donald; her siblings, Gerritt Dekker, Jan Dekker, Richard Dekker, Hendrik Dekker and Corrie Samson; and her stepsiblings, Diny Budding and Harry Dekker.
She is survived by: her children, Diane Lieder (Hans) of Blenheim, Walter Hasselaar (Eunice) of Chatham, Jeanetta McBrayne (Carl) of Alberta, Bernice Card (Eldon) of Chatham, Mary Kahue (Jerry) of Chatham and Yvonne Rivers (late Bill) of Chatham; her grandchildren, Paul Card (Kristie), Eric Lieder (Tracy), Marc Lieder, Tabitha Umanji (Zamir), Travis McBrayne (Mandy), Ryan Kahue and Melissa Marta (Tim); her stepgrandson Will Rivers (Rosie); her great grandchildren, Maxine, Thomas, Bryce, Megan, Naomi, Alexander and Carter; her siblings, Teuni Van Garderen and Henry Dekker; First Reformed Church. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the First Reformed Church (632 Lacroix St, Chatham, ON N7M2X4). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
