He was predeceased by: his parents, Dirk Rooyen and Martha Van Rooyen (Timmerman); his daughters, Annette McGregor and Darlene Crow; his grandson Mark; and his siblings, Dick, Wiegert (late Hielkje) and Aletta.

He is survived by: his wife Grace; his children, Derrick "Dick" Van Rooyen (Shirley), John Van Rooyen (Dianne), Martha Hooyer (Wayne) and Paul Van Rooyen (Kathie); his sons-in-law, Pete McGregor (Teri) and Mike Crow (Cindy); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tom, Melissa (Dan), Matt (Gemma), Darren (Johanna), Joel (Tina), Lauren (Trevor), Stephen, Mathew (Tanya), Shawn (Janice), Brian (Brittany), Cassandra (Trevor), Jessica, Michael (Lindsey), Candace, Brandon, Nicole (Matt) and Sarah; his great grandchildren, Jessie, Joshua, Kenzie, Elijah, Oliver, Brooklyn, Lily, Violet, Rowen, Seth, Ethan, Jeremy, Noah, Kaleb, Zachary, Jayce, Wyatt, Michael, Adalynn, Everett and Rylee; his siblings, Henk (Connie), Dina (late Simon), Adrian (Margaret), Alice (Bert), Martha (late Albert), William (Margaret), Bert (Tinie) and Francis (Connie); and his sister-in-law Elizabeth (Fred). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
