Mary Gloria Riberdy Obituary

Gloria Riberdy, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Chatham at the age of 91.

Born on October 25, 1934, in Tilbury, Ontario, Gloria was the daughter of the late Arthur and Aldea Tremblay. She lived a long and meaningful life defined by her unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of her home and the cornerstone of a family that grew far beyond what most could imagine. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and quiet strength, all rooted in her deep commitment to those she cared for most.

Above all else, Gloria was a family woman. As a proud mother of seven children, she built a legacy that flourished across generations. She became the matriarch of an extraordinary family, including her 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren – each carrying forward her spirit of kindness, resilience, and care.

She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved. Whether through family gatherings, shared meals, or everyday moments, Gloria created lasting memories and strong bonds that will continue to unite her family.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Raymond (1972), George Carey (2001), her son Richard Riberdy (1978), her daughter Ginnie Weyrauch (2015), her parents Arthur and Aldea Tremblay, and her siblings Ordo Tremblay (Connie), Lionel Tremblay, Norman Tremblay, Eugene Tremblay (Leona), Maurice Tremblay, Pete Tremblay, Mildred Lacount, and Pauline Ford. She was the last surviving member of her family of nine children.

Gloria is lovingly remembered by her children Patricia Riberdy of Chatham, Deb Lozon of Yorkton (predeceased by Don, 2017), Mike Riberdy of Waterloo, John Riberdy of Foam Lake, Frank Riberdy of Tilbury (Colleen), as well as her son-in-law Bill Weyrauch of Leamington. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tracey Fleury, Todd Atkinson (Sandra), Ian Atkinson (Kathy), Chris Cavanagh (Christine), Amie Brevard (Rene), Marc Brevard (Ashley), Luc Brevard (Clarissa), Gilbert Brevard (Christine), Zach Weyrauch (April), Sarah Weyrauch, Melissa Renwick (Gord), Richard Riberdy (Alex), Kayla Riberdy (Dave), Amber Riberdy (Greg), and Brent Riberdy (Kelly Ann), along with her 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Gloria is also survived by her sisters-in-law Jean Tremblay and Doreen Phaneuf, her brother-in-law John Lacounte, and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
