It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Michiyo Furukawa of Chatham, Ontario, born in Slocan, British Columbia, who passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Kota Furukawa and Chiyoko Furukawa; and her siblings, Hiromitsu and Michiko (Norma). She is survived by: her sibling Masumi Yako (late Tom); her nieces and nephews, Terry Yako (Penny), Sandy Yako and Elaine Howell (Scott); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Ted Yako, Andrew Yako, John Howell and Jackie Howell.
