It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Michiyo Furukawa of Chatham, Ontario, born in Slocan, British Columbia, who passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Kota Furukawa and Chiyoko Furukawa; and her siblings, Hiromitsu and Michiko (Norma). She is survived by: her sibling Masumi Yako (late Tom); her sibling's children, Terry Yako (Penny), Sandy Yako and Elaine Howell (Scott); and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Ted Yako, Andrew Yako, John Howell and Jackie Howell.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 28th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home (245 Wellington St W, Chatham, ON N7M1J9). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
