He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Goldsmith and Edith Goldsmith; his wife Grace (Dyck); his siblings, Rev. James Goldsmith (late Norma), Fred, Joy Johnson (James), Jeanne Axford (late Robert) and Larry Goldsmith (Madeline); and his brothers-in-law, Robert Dyck (Miriam) and Art Dyck (Lynn).

He is survived by: his sons, Alan (late Bonnie) of Thamesville, Kevin (Anne) of Chatham and Brett (Kelly) of Chatham; his grandchildren, Braden (Robyn), Lyressa (Blayne), Joel, Tanner (Maddy), Rebekah (Daniel), Connor and Jeremy; his great grandchildren, Ryerson, Bronson, Bearett and Brewer; and his sisters, Lucille Goldsmith and Mary Kay Barby (Jim). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
