He was predeceased by: his parents, Tillie Bodnaruk (Dowdy) and Stephen Bodnaruk; and his parents-in-law, Elsa (Kruse) and James Crichton. He is survived by: his spouse Antja (Crichton); his children, Candice (Larry Sutherland) and Warren (Giselle Smejda); his grandchildren, Clara, Margot and Ryan; his cousins, Bev, Effie and Michael (Felice); and his siblings-in-law, Jim (Crichton), Faith (Crichton) and Kathy (Belanger).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rick's honour to the Rotary Club International or to the Rotary Club of Chatham.
