He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Tanton and Fanny Tanton (Pollock); his spouse Shirley Tanton (Dehoey); his brother Leonard (Shirley Tanton); and his brother-in-law Jim Wilson.
He is survived by: his sons, Dave (Norma) and Tom Tanton (Pam); his grandchildren, Melissa Tanton (Chris Wilson), Amanda Lachance (Travis) and Stacy Case; his great grandchildren, Hesteyn, Brittany, Peyton, Trenton and Owen; and his sisters, Anne Wilson and Norma Lammens (Dave). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
