He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Samways and Margaret Samways; his wife Dianne Samways; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Phyllis Cook; and his child Chris Samways of Chatham.

He is survived by: his children, Dana McGrail (late Bill) of Cookstown and Robin Samways (late Dorinda) of Maynooth; his sister Sally McGregor (late Bill); and his sister-in-law Marilynn Cook.

During the pandemic, Dad lost a son and his wife, then compounding that, suffered an amputation.
