Shirley Kelly Obituary

Shirley Kelly, a devoted wife, mother, nanny, and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 65, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Shirley is survived by her devoted husband, Stewart; children, Kendra (Zach) Abbink and Kyle (Micheala) Kelly; grandchildren, Niah, Sophia, Aubree, Axton, and Averleigh; two sisters, Bonnie and Jeanne, many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as her lifelong best friend and partner in crime, Hertha. Predeceased by her mother Irene Druer (2023). Shirley's love for her family and her infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Shirley was married to her best friend and soulmate, Stewart Kelly, with whom she had shared nearly 50 years of love and companionship. Together, since she was 15, they weathered life's ups and downs, and Shirley often spoke of Stewart as her rock. She fought and triumphed over stage 4 cancer, with Stewart by her side through every step of her journey, proving her strength and resilience.

Shirley was the first call her children, Kendra and Kyle, would make, no matter what they needed—whether it was advice, support, or just someone to talk to. She was not just their mother but was also their best friend, confidant, and a constant presence in their lives. She was the proudest grandmother to her five grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. Shirley's face lit up at the mention of her grandkids, and she was immensely proud of each one of them.

Shirley spent her life caring for others, always putting her family first. Whether it was making every holiday special or offering random gifts to let others know she was thinking of them, Shirley's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel cherished and loved.

A woman of many talents, Shirley loved being crafty, spending time thrift store shopping, and playing bingo. However, what brought her the most happiness was being surrounded by family, having everyone together. Making everyone laugh as she went along with crazy pranks pulled on her and even crazier Tik Toks and videos her grandchildren would make with her.

Visitation will be held between 1:00 and 3:00pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Life Transitions (397 McNaughton Ave W., Chatham), immediately followed by a Celebration of Shirley's Life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests you shop your local thrift store in Shirley's honour.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave to everyone.
