He was predeceased by: his parents, Rita Helmer and Harold Helmer; his parents-in-law, Veronica and James Emery; his siblings, William Phillips (Patricia) and Gail Phillips; his nephew Ricky Jubenville; and also Roger Emery.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Melissa Ann Miller and Patrick Michael Phillips (Lori); his granddaughters, Melody May Miller and Sydney Rachel Phillips; his sisters, Ann Phillips and Patti Phillips; his siblings-in-law, Phyllis Jubenville (Richard) and Alvin Emery (Janet); and his nieces and nephews, Shelby Emery, Devon Emery (Alf), Susan (Doug Wastell), Heather (Dave Damaren), Freedom-Kai Phillips and Jeffrey Phillips.

Donations made in memory of Walter to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
