He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Murray and Joanne Isabel Smith (Ebel); his great-aunt Gert; his pet Jake; his close friend Crawford (Sharon); his grandchildren, Tristin, Lily and Shelby; his girlfriend Sharon Hohl (Hilgartner); his sister Kim Sparks (Bill) of Waterloo; his girlfriend's children, Mel Emke and Wes Hohl (Hillary Makin); his sibling's children, Krista Kennedy (Dwayne) of Ayr, Jenn LeBlanc (Jesse) of Kitchener and Kori Howe (Katrina) of Woodstock; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Taylor, Jessica, Autumn, Lexi and Kiera; his siblings-in-law, Jim Hilgartner of Mount Forest, Kevin Hilgartner (Kim) of Kitchener, Thressa Hilgartner of Kitchener, Brian Hilgartner and Judy Hilgartner; his son-in-law Leander Emke; Sharon Hohl, Tristin Emke (Breelyn Konrad-Dolson), Lily Emke (Colton Tanner), Shelby Hohl (Owen Tennant), William and Joanne Smith (Ebel). He was also cherished by three great great-nephews and one great great-niece.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Klages Mill (11 1st Ave N, Chesley, ON N0G1L0). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
