He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Monkman and Islay Monkman (Sinclair); and his brother-in-law Gerald Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Helen Watson; his children, Darlene Monkman (Marc Carrier) of Ottawa, Maxine Scott (Trevor) of Orillia, Pauline Fidler (Justin) of Lucan and Bill Monkman (Liz O'Mahoney) of Dobbinton; his stepchildren, Tracey Watson and Dennis Watson (Laurie); his grandchildren, Ian (Chloe), Eric Scott, Emma, Ainslie Fidler, Mac, Sawyer, Ellie Monkman and Abby Watson; and his sibling Leslie Monkman (Susan Lederman) of Toronto.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rhody Family Funeral Home (65 4th St SW, Chesley, ON N0G 1L0). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Tara United Church (33 Market St, Tara, ON N0H2N0).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Brightshores Owen Sound Foundation, Canadian Foodgrains Bank, or Grey Bruce Hospice Inc. (Chapman House) would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Make a donation.
