He was predeceased by: his wife Helen; his parents, Stanley George Bate and Clara Bate; and his siblings, Tim Bate (late Gladys), Bernetta Norwood and Margaret Moore.

He is survived by: his daughter Brenda; his son-in-law Julien Desrochers; his grandchildren, Clinton Coleman (Karen), Bridgette Corbett (Mike), Jesse Desrochers and Lucas Bate Medon (Heizel Medon); his great grandchildren, Taylor Richards (Matt), Paige Woodman, Devin Woodman, Nicole Coleman (Dylan Riley), Cooper Coleman, Carter Coleman and Brendon Medon; his nieces and nephews, Patricia Turner, Frank Archer, Sharon Bate and John McCallister; and his pets, Olliver, Peach, Bella and Gus.
