He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his daughters, Pattie Gauthier and Mary Catherine Sanchioni Carmel (Montreal); his great grandchildren, Olivia and Lachlan; and his former wife Eleanor Balleny. He is also survived by many friends, nieces, nephews and Elaine's four children who have been his bonus family for so many years.
