He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred J Phelps and Hilda; his former wife Pat; and his brothers-in-law, Frank Simon (Dora), Louis Simon (Judy) and Steve Simon (late Matilda).

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Rose; his brother Ray; his siblings-in-law, Margaret Sorley (Jack) and George Simon (late Lula); and his nephews, Simon, Matthew (Susan), Jackie (Bonny), Steve (Pam) and Tim. He is also survived by 4 brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Anglican Church (Cornwall) or Centre 105 Drop-in Day Program (Cornwall).
