Domenic Antonio Di Girolamo Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved papa, nonno, bis nonno, who left us at the age of 93. Beloved husband of Lina Di Girolamo (née Lapenna). Loving father of Carmela Griffin (Christopher) of Illinois, Pasquale "Pat" Di Girolamo (Lucia) of Long Sault, Larry Di Girolamo (Manon Lalonde) of Illinois, and Maddalena Tardif (late Jean-Pierre) of Summerstown.
Proud grandfather of Matthew and Daniel Griffin; Jennifer, Jeff and Lina Di Girolamo, Gaston Myre (Marion), Gino Myre (Samantha), Gitano Myre, and Gaetan Myre; Domenic, Nicolina, and Roman Di Girolamo; Brittany Tardif (Matthew Cooblal) and Nicholas Tardif. Cherished great grandfather of Carter, Ellie, Connor, Olivia, Norah, Dylan, Calla, Luca, Hailee and Charlee.
Domenic will be missed by his sisters, Teresa De Innocentiis (late Alfredo), Emma Di Stefano (Guilio), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Pasquale & Carmela Di Girolamo (née Caporicci) and his sister, Maria Di Lonardo (late Mario).
Domenic arrived in Canada from Italy in 1951 and moved to Cornwall soon thereafter. There, he built a thriving plaster and drywall business and a loving family with Lina, his wife of 68 years. His greatest pride was always his family and his siblings. He faced life with unwavering strength and determination—never complaining and always reassuring us that he was okay. A true philosopher at heart, he shared wisdom with all who knew him. He firmly believed that love would always win and that life is beautiful!
His skilled hands left a mark on so many of the homes in Cornwall and the surrounding areas. His absolute passion for his craft and relentless work ethic kept him engaged and fulfilled into his 80s. He didn't ever want to retire. He found immense joy in tending to his big garden and crafting his own wine.
He will be dearly missed and remembered for his love, his boundless patience, and his strength.
