He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lafave and Nora Lafave; and his brothers, Curtis Lafave, Roger Lafave and Garry Lafave.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Lafave; his children, John Lafave (late Elizabeth), Bethany Tyrell (Christopher), Matthew Lafave (Carole), Mark Lafave (Tracy) and Joshua Lafave; his grandchildren, Janelle, Samuel, Ethan, Emma, Abigail, Isabelle and John; and his sister Barbara Schatten (Les).

Donations in John's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Canada, causes close to his heart.
