He was predeceased by: his wife Noella Dolores Violette; his parents, John Come Violette and Bertha Violette; and his siblings, Greta Robitaille, Roland Violette, Donald and Richard Violette.

He is survived by: his children, John Richard Violette (Viviane) and Michele Yedema (Gerben); and his grandchildren, Briar and Cole Yedema.
