He was predeceased by: his significant others, Margaret Anne "Maggie" Eby (Goudy) and Lorna Ashmore (Hayter); his parents, Robert Ashmore and Isabell Ashmore (McGeachan); and his siblings, Doug Ashmore, Tom Ashmore and Barbara Elliot (Bruce).

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Jennifer Eby of Dashwood, Geoff and Bea Eby of Oakville; his grandchild Conor Eby; and his siblings, Helen (Gary Gibson), Jill Ashmore of Fort Erie, Michelle Ashmore, Jim (Nancy Goudy) and John Goudy of Toronto. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
