He was loved and cherished by many people including: his significant other Franca Robillard; his daughters, Nicole Hawken (Dave) and Janelle Vandemheen; his stepchild Jordan Robillard (Brittaney); his grandchildren, Scarlett and Ocean Hawken; his parents, Phyllis Vandemheen and Bill Vandemheen; and his siblings, Brian, Kathy (Rob Gourgon) and Kevin Vandemheen.

By family request, donations in memory of Doug may be made to a memorial scholarship fund being established in his name.
