He was predeceased by: his parents, Waldemar Buss and Della Buss (Kaercher); his sister Karen DeLong (Buss); and his brothers-in-law, Charles and Donald Kleinschmidt.

He is survived by: his wife Joanne Kleinschmidt; his children, Gary Buss (Genevieve) and Jennifer McCague; his grandchildren, Madison McCague and Connor Buss; and his siblings-in-law, Michael DeLong, Sally Jo and Terri Kleinschmidt. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
