He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Gwen Yates (Dafoe); his children, Karen Yates and Glenn Yates; his grandchildren, Carter, Palmer and Chandler Simpson; his former wife Catherine Joanne Yates; his parents, Raymond Yates and Pearle Yates (Graham); his siblings, Graham, George, Gordon, Norma (Iley) and Mary Meadus (Ottawa); and his siblings-in-law, Weldon Meadus, Fred Iley, Catherine Yates, Rose, Sandy, Lorraine, Isabelle and Dorothy.
