He was predeceased by: his wife Fern; his brother Norman; and his parents, Charles McDermid and Minnie McDermid. He is survived by: his children, Randy of Guelph, Deborah of Guelph and Rodney (Judy) of Guelph; his grandchildren, Jade Mewett (Nick), Samantha Hepburn and Cody McDermid (Trish); his great grandchildren, Braxton, Harlow, Lochlan and Fern; and his siblings, Allan of Guelph, Ken (Jean) of Guelph and Mary of Guelph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
