He was predeceased by : his wife Marlene Hein (Schroeder); his great grandchildren, Elizabith and Carson; his parents, Charlie and Amanda (Zadow); and his siblings, Annie Grant, Garnet, Ernest, Viola Boldt, Karl, Arthur, Basil, Willard and Elson.

He is survived by : his children, Catherine Stewart (David), Michael, Ann Schroeder (Wade) and May Kumm (Barry); his grandchildren, Christopher (Terri-Lynn), Charles, Rebecca (Mike), Jessica (Adam), Trevor (Miranda), Katy (Ryan), Charity (Fred), Brandon (Emily), Jasmine (Riley), Dominic (Kate), Constantine, August, Cohen (Abbi), Kadance (Jayden), Noah, Wren, Izabelle, Jackson, Nash, Hudson and Bella; and his sister Arline Schroeder.
