He was predeceased by : his parents, Minna Martha Kohlschmidt and Wilhelm Otto Kohlschmidt; and his siblings, Walter Kohlschmidt and Gerda Martha Schmidt. He is survived by : his close friend Friedel Meinert; his nephew Uwe Kohlschmidt of Germany; his stepchildren, David and Rita Meinert; and his stepgrandchildren, Heather and Philip.
