He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Marie Gailitis; his sons, Bruce (Carolyn) and Edward (Shawna); his grandchildren, Luke, Allison, Caleb, Jennifer, Nathan (Hannah), Taryn, Owen and Jadeyn; and his siblings, Elivra Synder, Robert Gailitis (Bev) and Rudolf Gailitis (Diane).
