He was predeceased by: his parents, Ype Sytsma and Trijnije Schaafsma; and his brothers, Jim and Hank. He is survived by: his wife Gwen (Rundle); his children, Dan, Kevin, John and Ann-Marie (Manny); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brooke Goodfellow and Erika Boyes (Rob); his in-laws, Joan Sytsma, Norma Sytsma, Michael and Mila Rundle; and his nephews, Derrick Sytsma (Judy) and Rob Sytsma (Suzanne).
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (280 St David St S, Fergus, ON N1M2L5). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (760 St David St N, Fergus, ON N1M2K9). A reception was held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the St. Joseph Parish (760 St David St N, Fergus, ON N1M2K9).
